Skin Cancer Treatment

Developed by Dr. Frederic Mohs, MOHS micrographic surgery is a highly specialized treatment that is considered the “gold standard” for the removal of facial skin cancers, as well as skin cancers involving the neck, ears, and hands. Through direct microscopic examination and specialized marking techniques, MOHS surgery allows for selective removal of the skin cancer with the preservation of as much of the surrounding normal tissue as possible.

Although no technique can provide a 100% guarantee, MOHS surgery has demonstrated a cure rate exceeding 97% for newly diagnosed, non-recurrent skin cancers. MOHS surgery is the preferred method of treatment for skin cancers in areas where healthy tissue preservation is essential, as well as for cancers that have failed other treatment methods or skin cancers that are large and have indistinct borders.
